Mr. Don Cockroft speaking to our 6th and 7th Graders
Mr. Don Cockroft speaking to a 6th and 7th Graders about his career as a kicker for the Cleveland Browns.  Mr. Cockroft was a member of the Browns during the  "Kardiac Kids" days.  His advice to students: "always do your very best in anything and everything.  You can't lose!"
Mr. Cockroft will be giving the introduction for Mr. Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger, who will be speaking at the Canton Palace Theater on October 24th at 6:00 pm.  "Rudy" was the titular character in the 1993 movie about his time as a football player at the University of Notre Dame.  His book Rudy: My Story is this year's Stark County District Library's One Book, One Community selection.  It is also the subject of a book study in our 6th and 7th grade Reading classes.
Mr. Cockroft, who is an author himself, shared a story with our students about how a teammate took 10 seconds to forever change his life.  For more information about Mr. Cockroft, click here.

Fairless Middle School

Students working together!

On Friday, 8/25, the 6th Grade Team went outside during Falcon time to play the Human Knot game. Students worked together to untangle themselves. Teachers then facilitated student discussion on how this activity applied to the Falcon Five: Be Safe, Be Cooperative, Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Kind!  Not only did it drive home the importance of the Falcon Five, but students also had a great time!
